In Greene County district court Jared Gabriel Glendenning, 20, of Churdan was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 96-hour alcohol education program in lieu of four days of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a drinking drivers course. Glendenning was fined $1,875 with a $281.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 45, of Ames, leaving scene of accident- injury, driving while license barred, operating while intoxicated- second offense, attempted murder, stalking- possess dangerous weapon, criminal mischief- first degree, willful injury causing bodily injury, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense, assault while displaying dangerous weapon, and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent; and Derlin Oveniel Alvaren Martinez, 31, of Jefferson, criminal mischief- fourth degree (two counts). Trial dates were set for April 7 in both cases.
Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Feb. 27 as follows: Dakota Rae Sheer, 33, of Rippey, possession of marijuana; and Damon David Zimpel, 35, of Scranton, operating while intoxicated- second offense.
